The folk group "CITTA’ DI PALAGIANELLO" was born with the intent to recover, valorize but above all to preserve the great historical and cultural heritage of southern Italy and the Province of Taranto. Fundamental purpose is to reproduce, through performances full of color and light, with costumes that even in their poverty of seals, are rich in designs and that complement their selves with the harmony of our country, of our pine forests and of our sea, the moments of the typical day of the classic peasant. From here the choice of dances that are trying, in the choreography and movement to reconstruct the Tarantino's typical day that began with the work in the fields and ended the evening at home around a fire, all this accompanied by musics and texts to highlight and attempt to bring to light the mood that could characterize the man of the time busy in the daily struggle with hunger, the continuing defense of property against criminal and violent actions of the robbers, but at the same time finding space for family, love and friends.
Even if with ancient roots, (the first historical signals are around 1885), the folk group "CITTA 'DI PALAGIANELLO" began assiduously since 1982 to export the tradition of its territory in other cultural areas enjoying numerous successes.
The great passion that we all have urges us to pass even at the younger our roots. For this reason our group also has its young musicians and dancers, to give continuity to the traditions that in time run the risk of getting lost forever.
Numerous successes have crowned the 2009; we want to remember how the group was the only Italian guest present at the 60th World Festival of Dance in Dijon-France obteinig great appreciation. The year 2010 has begun in the wake of 2009, in fact the group with its executives and artists is a sort of teacher at one stage in an institute of high school where he gives some lections about traditions, music, folklore, traditional songs and dances. Moreover,the traditional clothes of the group were been on show in Bari,the main city of Puglia in the prestigious "Fortress St. Antonio ".
